I love fall! From now through the end of the year (maybe even into February) is my favorite time of the year! So many great holidays to make stuff for. Today is a little mix of some things I've been working on. (No time for a tutorial this week because I'm busy playing with stamps, NEW stamps that is! I'm finalizing the sets, and testing to make sure that they all work out just how I want them to! I can't WAIT to share them with you!!) Here's a few other things I've been up to: Sewing samples of my free fabric pumpkin sewing pattern (available here) for the class I'm teaching at CityCraft in Dallas next month. (They just opened … [Read more...]

Let your heart soar
Last weekend I mentioned that I visited a local balloon festival. It was fabulous fun! Hot Air Balloons have played a little role over the last few weeks in my projects too! Paper Crafts Magazine had a call and wanted projects with hot air balloons. I submitted a couple of projects (one will be published this spring so I can't show you that one just yet!) but here's a little home decor project I did featuring a hot air balloon and a great little quote! Hope you have a fantastic weekend and don't forget to let your heart soar! … [Read more...]

Tutorial Tuesday: Brad Attack!
I saw candy corn at the store this weekend and was reminded of how cute those little things are, plus they are just so delicious! I knew I had to do something with a candy corn shape on it so we'll be making this card today: In case you were wondering, yes, those are ALL brads! But don't worry I've made things easy for you! Here's the layout I did in Illustrator! Just print it here and you're ready to go! I have lots of brads, and for some reason I had a TON of brass colored brads, which is weird because I think it's safe to say I NEVER use brass colored brads on my projects! I wondered if I could maybe, just maybe, make them … [Read more...]
Happy Monday!
Boy I love the weekend! I was super busy this weekend, but it was filled with creative time so I can't complain too much! I went to the Plano Balloon Festival. Have you ever seen lots of hot air balloons in one place, in the dark, with flickering lights? It's beautiful! Like huge fireflies in the field! If you ever get the chance to visit a Balloon Festival, GO! (I'll show you a hot air balloon inspired project later this week!) I was also asked to teach a class at my church on making little sweets. How'd they know I have a really bad sweet tooth? We made a few simple projects, most of which involved chocolate-10 pounds of … [Read more...]
Tutorial Tuesday: Fabric Flower Necklace
I was working on a home decor project and couldn't get enough of these cute little red poppies I was making so I knew I had to make something I could wear one with. (Did I tell you I'm redesigning my living room/dining room/kitchen with a new color palette? I couldn't be more excited about it! You can see my new color palette and the inspiration behind it at Fresh Nest Design.) I decided on a necklace and kept it pretty simple with just a touch of black and silver. It's super simple, just make a few bead pieces mixing 2-3 beads, attach them to some silver chain, hand stitch your flower to the necklace and voila, you're done! I think … [Read more...]

Today we'll learn more about DT Member Bonnie Rose! Tell us a little bit about yourself: My name is Bonnie Rose and I currently live in Fargo ND. I have a dream of living further south one day near the ocean. I love the ocean. I could be a total beach bum and have a beach-inspired beach home one day. One day. I work part time weekdays and have most of my afternoons free to be inspired and create in my Studio. When a day goes by when I don't make something, I just don't feel complete. I love card design and stamping. I started out as a scrapbooker over 17 years ago, but soon the stamping bug caught me, and well, now I'm … [Read more...]
Tutorial Tuesday: Photo Printing on Fabric
I love printing on fabric! Did you know that you can too? It's actually fairly easy and I used this method to make my card today for the tutorial. I wanted a note card I could use for a variety of purposes and I wanted to incorporate some photos I took in Europe this summer. Here's what I came up with: To prepare your fabric for printing you'll need to take a piece of freezer paper and fabric and cut them slightly larger than 8 ½" x 11". Iron the fabric to the paper. (Make sure the paper is ironed with the shiny side touching the fabric.) Trim the paper to exactly 8 ½" x 11" to fit in your printer. Get your photo ready to … [Read more...]
Cookies and Weekends
Don't those two just go together? I hope everyone has big plans for the extended weekend! (Even if it's just big plans to relax.) While you're planning the weekend, I'd recommend trying these delicious cookies: Chocolate Surprise Cookies 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa (I used the Special Dark Cocoa.) 1 tsp baking soda 1 cup sugar 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar 1 cup butter, softened 2 tsp vanilla 2 eggs 1 cup chopped pecans 48 Rolo Caramel candies 1 Tb sugar In small bowl, combine flour, cocoa and baking soda; blend well. Now that my Design Team has been busy creating fun projects with the Schlosser Designs stamp sets, let's meet them! I'm married to my best friend, mom to our 2 amazing boys, spoiler to Ellie our Diva Dog, and I am a stamper! When did you start … [Read more...]
