Cool treats are on my mind!

Hello Hello! I hope everyone is staying cool! It’s been super hot here in the Midwest, and it seems most everywhere else too! Perfect time for a frozen treat, or a whole bowl full! I’m staying cool by thinking about all the gelato I had in Italy:

I have a confession: I always say I’m not a scrapbooker, but I made a layout yesterday. I remembered why I don’t scrapbook as much. Because this one layout took me about 4 hours. I loved detailed layouts with hidden journaling, lots of teeny tiny embellishments, and just the right papers! I think I might actually frame it in a shadow box because I LOVE how it turned out! (The little awning is my favorite, it lifts up for hidden journaling!)

This layout would not have been possible without some amazing adhesive! I used up about two full sheets of foam squares (the entire shoppe is lifted up from the background with 2 layers of squares) and the tiny layered details of the sweets on the counter were EASY to adhere with the transfer tape from 3L. (I did tell you I was on the DT for Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, right?!?)

Well, I got to see some new adhesives they’ll be releasing at CHA, and let me tell you they are amazing, but that’s all I can tell you for now! Want to find out about their new adhesive before everyone else at CHA? If you do, be sure you’ve signed up at www.theshapetocome.com. If you register your email address there before July 25th, you’ll get a special pre-show announcement! (You’ll also be entered to win $50 worth of Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L products (winner announced on their blog August 2nd.!)

**How about this? Let’s do a giveaway here too! Leave a comment here on my blog and I’ll draw a winner for $25 of Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L products on July 25th!**

Erin

I am SUPER excited to share with you the talents of:

Kristina Werner!

She is an extrenely talented designer! For the months of August and September she will be showing us some awesome ways to use the Schlosser Designs Stamp Sets. Head on over to her blog and see for yourself the graphic designs of Kristina. You can see one here that she’s already done. Kristina graciously answered a few questions for me. (Hope they weren’t too cheesy, but I can’t claim that I’m a professional journalist by any means!)

Besides making completely awesome cards and paper projects, what do you like to do in your spare time?

I love to read, but mostly silly entertaining things. Nothing too serious. And I also keep up with WAY too many television shows. I suppose you could say that I love anything with a good story, whether it be a good book or a even a television show.

Is there one particular moment that sparked your interest for cards and papercrafting?

Actually, I remember the exact thing I was looking at. :) Being that I work in the scrapbooking industry as a graphic designer I was pretty familiar with what was out there, but had never felt the urge to create anything myself. Then, I saw something that just made me what to create everything! It was a scrapbooking page by Laura Kurz. I was just so fascinated by it. It was this exact page…
http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/pg.asp?cmd=display&layout_id=616170

Where do you look for your inspiration?

I tend to get inspiration directly from the products. I’ve always loved patterns and colors, so I just try to arrange them in a way that looks cool to me. :)

What is your favorite quote?

“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.” -Dr. Seuss

This is one of her projects that she wanted to share:

You can find her post about this book here. There’s downloadable instructions at the end of the post. I told you she was awesome! Welcome Kristina!

Ok, so I promised something big…

I hope you like it! I put together a book for you!

It’s the Project Recipe Book!

I would have loved to have this book when I was first starting out with card making. It can be really hard to come up with different layouts for your cards. It’s all black and white layouts which make it easier to add colors to your projects.

Lots of times I’ll look at a card and decide I don’t like it. Being the designer I am, I then ask myself why I didn’t like it. It’s usually that the colors they used are not my favorite. When I look at it again I like the layout, just not the paper they used. So, this is why this book is very simple to use. Just find the layout you like and add your own colors. This book has 40 different layouts that are easy to do. It will also tell you whether the layout will work for a scrapbook, card, or both. Here’s a sample image from the book, with my notes to explain. Click on it to make it larger to read.
It’s a nice handy size of 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″. And it’s spiral bound so it will actually stay open when you’re working on your projects. It’s in the store now and it’s $10. :)

A friend at work is expecting her first child (a little girl named Katelyn) soon and we’re having a baby shower for her tomorrow. This is what I made for her:

Basically a small journal with a few prompts. I left one side empty so she could put a picture and the other side has a little journal block. I’ve typed below what each one says…or you can click to see it bigger :)

The paper I used was a stack from K & Company designed by Amy Butler. I’ve been wanting to get some of her fabric and patterns for a while now and when I saw her paper I just had to get it. Anyway, the rest was just solid cardstock to match, with adhesive rhinestones throughout.
