It’s a Craft Party!

A week ago I had such a fun time with some friends and hosted a craft party. Elmer’s was kind enough to send me a huge box of awesome craft supplies that we could work with and we had a great Craft and Tell party! (I even had some cool bags filled with goodies for everyone to take home!) Here are just a few of the fun things worked on that night:

Celia took the time to make a few Mother’s Day cards to send out.

Diane used the craft glue as a Mod Podge like product to do some awesome vintage comic book art for her son’s room.

Callie (and her mom Molly) had fun using a bit of everything to make and decorate some gift tags.

I’d have to say that my favorite item they sent was the Pink retractable craft knife. I’m always losing the cap to my X-Acto blades which makes it a little dangerous to store. This craft knife retracts so that’s not a problem ever again! Wish I’d had this during design school!

Thanks SO much Elmer’s for everything that was sent! We had a blast creating that night!

Wow, what a great week I’ve had! I hope that yours was just as amazing! It all started with going grocery shopping and seeing that Kellogg’s is bringing back this cereal:

Frosted Mini Wheats Fruit in the Middle. Thank you Kellogg’s for starting my week out right! I remember this cereal from many years ago (which is funny since it says it’s new) and my husband and I usually brought it up about twice a year as one of those “Hey Remember…” moments. I may or may not have bought 4 boxes…

Then the next day in the mail I got my latest copy of Paper Crafts Magazine and was pleasantly reminded that I had a card published in it. (You can go to their website to download the template I used to make the cute card above.) I’ve been so busy with my sewing classes at CityCraft that I completely forgot that I’d had a card chosen for publication.

This week I was also asked to be the new Program Director for CityCraft which means that I get to spend time not only teaching, but developing new projects and ideas for the store as well as working with all the other great teachers there.

One CityCraft sewer, Belinda, used the sample scarf I made for the Sewing with Knits class as a jumping off point to make some cute scarves. Click on the photo to see some of the other things she’s been working on! Love the coordinating fabric on the back! Different Directions and a BIG Stamp Sale

Hello hello everyone! I hope everyone is safe and sound with all the winter weather everywhere! This post has taken me some time to write and even longer to hit the publish button. It’s not something I’m excited about, yet I know it’s the right choice for now. I’m sure you’ve noticed that I haven’t been blogging much lately. With my husband going back to school for a second Master’s degree I’ve been working quite a bit which doesn’t leave me much time for working on my stamp designs. As much as I’d love to continue with my stamps, at the time, I’m unable to do so.

I’ll be back to regular craft blogging soon as I haven’t stopped crafting and have some fun little projects I’ve been working on here and there. I truly appreciate all your support and hope that you’ll still continue to check back and see what fun projects I’ve been working on.

What does this mean for you? If you want any of my stamps, they are all 1/2 off until they are gone! Once they are gone I will not be reprinting any of them so if there’s a certain set you’ve had your eye on, now is the time to stock up! Half off makes them only $6.50 per set! It’s Friday, want a sneak peek of the new stamp sets?

The set I used for the card above is the Autumn Blessings set and includes 13 stamps filled with fall images, sentiments, and enough stamps to make a background print or border! Next week I’ll show you the Thanksgiving place settings and table display I made with just this one set!

Let’s DT member Karen Baker!

-When did you start crafting? I started scrapbooking my wedding nine years ago and never turned back. My cardmaking went into full swing nine months ago when I created a blog.

-What is your favorite embellishment for your projects?

Baker’s Twine is my most favorite at the moment, with Rustic Twine or Linen Thread running a close second.

-What is your favorite color or color combination?

Kraft, White and Black-so many possibilities…

-Your favorite snack food while crafting?

I found out the hard way that any snacks would end up on my projects so I tend to steer clear from food while crafting…However, my favorite indulgence is Cheeto’s Cheesy Puffed Corn while blog surfing or photo editing!

-Your favorite source of inspiration?

My half hour drive home to and work proves to be a great daily inspiration-not only from the colors, shapes, etc. from the scenery, but also the quiet time it allows for brainstorming. I also love to look through magazines such as Real Simple and browse interior design blogs.

-Describe your style in two words.

Let’s all say hi to Jessica!

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

Hi! I’m Jessica Griffin, and I’m a paper crafting enthusiast! I love creating banners for all occasions, altered art pieces, and making mini albums for friends and family. I married my high school sweet heart in 2006 and together we have three young children. Sometimes, it’s hard to tell who’s my biggest fan- my kids, or my husband! With out their love, support, and beautiful faces to photograph, I wouldn’t be where I am today. (Which is behind in all of my crafting!)

-When did you start crafting?

I’ve crafted for as long as I can remember. When I was in high school, my first real job was at the FIRST Joann ETC in my area. I remember, it was a big deal! I started buying scrapbooking stuff, purchased my first sewing machine, and TONS of fabric!

-What is your favorite embellishment for your projects?

Oh… I LOVE naked chipboard! I love the versatility.

-What is your favorite color or color combination?

I tend to learn towards blue. I love bright ‘happy’ colors.

-Your favorite snack food while crafting?

I don’t really eat or drink while crafting… I’m always worried about spilling, or getting something dirty!

-Your favorite source of inspiration?

Blogs. Definitely blogs. I love LollyChops, Debbie Olsen, and LaVerne Bose, just to name a few. When I am running low on inspiration, I will spend hours reading other peoples blogs. When I see something I like, I save it to a file on my computer called: “Inspire me!” I LOVE when people add a watermark to their photo with their name and blog information, that way I can go back to the blog later.

-Describe your style in two words.

Today we’re meeting DT member Tiffany!

-When did you start crafting?

I have been crafting since I was little. My Aunt Betty would bring over all sorts of crafts for us to make, including homemade ornaments, Christmas decorations, and cross stitch. My Aunt Helen taught me to Knit and Crochet, which I forgot how to do. I was introduced to stamping and scrapbooking in 2001 and haven’t stopped since. It has honestly been the only hobby that I have not lost interest in. Must be kismet

-What is your favorite embellishment for your projects?

Ribbon or buttons or bling – I can’t just pick one!!!

-What is your favorite color or color combination?

Berry, Aqua, and Spring Green

-Your favorite snack food while crafting?

If I am being good Almonds or the Antioxidant mixed (dried fruit and nuts), if not I love Trail Mix (only consisting of Peanut M&Ms, Almond M&Ms, and Dark Chocolate M&Ms – so not really a trail mix).

-Your favorite source of inspiration?

Blogs – love all those talented ladies!

Let’s meet the lovely DT Member Tenia today!

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

My name is Tenia Nelson and I am a 29 year old that resides in Denver, Colorado. I am a Child of God, Wife, Music and Drama Educator, Jazz Musician, Doggie Mama, Soccer Player…..and Papercrafter….of course!!

When did you start crafting?

Since I was a small child but did not really get serious about papercrafting until 2002.

What is your favorite embellishment for your projects?

Hmmm….my favorite embellie has to be ribbon….love me some ribbon!!!

What is your favorite color or color combination?

My favorite color is Blue…..and Green….okay I have two favorite colors.

Your favorite snack food while crafting?

Red Vines……Yummo!!!

Your favorite source of inspiration?

My favorite source of inspiration has to be other awesome papercrafters and clothing magazines

Describe your style in two words.

My style is clean and funky!!

Boy I love the weekend! I was super busy this weekend, but it was filled with creative time so I can’t complain too much! I went to the Plano Balloon Festival. Have you ever seen lots of hot air balloons in one place, in the dark, with flickering lights? It’s beautiful! Like huge fireflies in the field! If you ever get the chance to visit a Balloon Festival, GO! (I’ll show you a hot air balloon inspired project later this week!) I was also asked to teach a class at my church on making little sweets. How’d they know I have a really bad sweet tooth? We made a few simple projects, most of which involved chocolate-10 pounds of chocolate. Yum! I had children, teens, and adults attend the class. Total I think there were about 25 people and boy did we have fun! We dipped pretzels, cake balls, decorated brownies, and made little chocolate mice! Here’s a little cake ball that one of the teens made:
