“Hi there!  It’s Michele bringing you a fun Note Card Holder tutorial that uses the Build A Border set.

To create the folder, score at 2 and 2 1/2 inches on the short side of an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of cardstock. On the long side, score at 5 and 6 inches, then cut out the piece where the score lines meet up to the top score line.
Simply fold all the score lines inward to create the structure of your folder.
Cut the scrap piece into 2 equal long halves and score at 1 and 1 1/2 inches. These will later be your reinforcement pieces.

To create your decorative front panel, stamp the diamond border 4 times in brown ink. This repeated pattern will create blank ovals. In these ovals, stamp the flower border with aqua ink. Stamp the dot border with orange ink into the diamonds. Trim your card stock to desired size and then layer over orange and brown card stock. Finally, add rhinestones into flower centers.

Next create decorative panels for the interior folder flaps as well as the interior and exterior spine. Then,using glue dots, adhere wide Ric Rac starting under left panel and wrap around exterior, leaving approx 2 inches on the right side unattached.

Stamp a flower image onto the reinforcement pieces and using Scor-Tape, adhere long end onto inside of folder flap and short end onto folder.

Adhere end of ric rac to button back and add double sided adhesive Velcro. When you wrap button around to front, this will give you perfect placement for Velcro closure.

To create cards, follow same directions as the front decorative panel. To create 2 different looks, I backed one with aqua card stock and one with orange card stock and then added a scallop edge of coordinating ric rac that I then layered over the same wide ric rac as the folder.

Now the really hard part…do you give away or keep it for yourself ?!

Start with a piece of paper that’s 4″ x 5 1/2″.  The rest of the instructions are in the video.  I find that it’s always easier to see origami as it’s done, instead of seeing step by step pictures of the process.

Here’s a close up of the shirt and tie.  Try adding a mini metal brad for a tie tack!

Supplies: Basic Grey papers, Cuttlebug embossing folder from the Asian Set, Adhesive from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L, ribbon from my scrap bag.

Paper: American Crafts paper, white vellum (source unknown…my scrap pile!)

Embellishments: Opal Pearl Paint

Adhesives: Vellum Tape, Permanent Tape, and Foam Squares from Scrapbook Adhesives

This card is a standard size of 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″.  To make the 3D part, cut a piece of vellum that’s 5″ x 2″.  Score both ends of the vellum 3/8″ in from the side.  (This will make a little flap to adhere your vellum tape to.)

Fold and place adhesive, and adhere to card.  (The picture is looking down from the top.  See how the vellum “pops” out a little?)

Embellish and attach butterfly cutouts.  (I used some butterflies cut from the Cricut Storybook Cartridge but you could use chipboard or punched butterflies just as easily!)

Stamp Relax, Celebrate, and Live on a coordinating strip of paper, add pearl paint embellishments, and adhere.

They used the Boughs stamp set, the sentiment from the Furnishing Fun set and the new Zing embossing powder from American Crafts.  The embossing powder is awesome!  It’s works well on even the finest of stamps and comes in great fresh colors!  Thanks Marnie for letting me share!

I’ve had this idea bookmarked for a while and have been mulling over the best thing to do with it.  I figured that since it’s back to school time there are lots of lunches being made.  One of my favorite things growing up was that my dad hid little notes in our lunches for us to find.  Based off this memory, I made some cute little joke cards for you to sneak in your child’s lunch!

So gather up your supplies and let’s get going:

Foam Paint Brush

Acrylic Paint in coordinating colors (I used Pumpkin and Paradise)

Coordinating Glitter (I used Martha Stewarts Goldyn Beryl and some red glitter I got from Jenny On The Spot at BlogHer)

1 Transparency Sheet

Some dishwashing liquid-not pictured (like Dawn, any color works fine, I used green and it doesn’t affect the color of your paint at all!)

1. On your transparency, put a puddle of paint and a smaller puddle of dishwashing liquid.  Mix it up with your foam brush.

2. Spread out the mixed up paint/soap mixture into a even layer.  It may have lots of bubbles in it and it’s ok if it does, they will slowly work their way out on their own.

3. Sprinkle wet paint with glitter and let dry.  While you’re waiting for the paint to dry, trim your cards out on the gray dashed lines.

4. When your painted transparency is completely dry, carefully cut out some rectangles that are 2″ x 1 1/4″.  The easiest way to cut these without scratching off the surface is to use scissors, a paper trimmer may scratch off the paint. 5. Put clear tape inside the box on the card.

6. Stick your scratch off piece on top of the tape.

7. Scratch it off!  Yea!

The larger flower was made from some 1 1/2″ wide satin ribbon.  I LOVE how it turned out!  I added a fancy brad in the middle for a little accented touch.  What do you think?  I’m thinking they would also make great hair clips, brooches, or embellishments on a little handbag!

But wait, you might ask why I had some testers test this project out first. It’s because the sentiment on the front of the card can be whatever YOU want it to be! (Look for more projects with this feature shortly!) When the PDF opens up, click on the sentiment where it says Type Custom Sentiment Here and type away to your hearts content. These cards will allow you two lines in which to type a custom sentiment for your mom! How awesome is that?

I stamped the eggs on white cardstock, cut out, and layered with different thicknesses of foam tape. (Don’t forget that you can stack two layers of foam tape to get even more dimension than just one layer. Here I adhered one egg directly to the nest, put 1 layer of foam tape on one, and 2 layers of foam tape on the one in the middle for added dimension.)

After you’ve stamped the main image, just put a border of velvet rickrack around it and secure the corners with brads.
